AdSense For Mobile Content

Its Just Like Adsense - Now For The Phone!

A recent development I personally have only noticed in the last several weeks starting in August 2011 on my Adsense account is a new display line section now that shows me page views on my account - for mobile content.

Thats right, each time someone views a mobile based website on a tablet (Samsung Galaxy Tab, Apple iPad) or smartphone (Samsung Galaxy II, iPhone, HTC Desire, Blackberry, Nokia, etc) there are adverts showing up on the site. Same function as viewing a normal website applies for someone searching and finding your articles, especially on sites like HubPages. The same applies when they click ads, you get the benefit. See the potential now?

How Does It Work

Google has developed the technology to show appropriate ads to conform to display on smart tablets and the latest phones. It will still match the right content to your site, blog, or article. Its written in a way to know how to format correctly and what ads to provide dependent on the type of website, device and the usual SEO of your article.

The still earn the usual way with people clicking on your ads, just as one does for Adsense for content. The same stats details will also show for Adsense for mobile on your account.

One caveat is that Adsense For Mobile Content only currently is available for the following countries;

Argentina
Australia
Austria
Belgium
Brazil
Canada
Chile
China
Colombia
Czech Republic
Denmark
Finland
France
Germany
Greece
Hong Kong
India
Indonesia
Ireland
Italy
Japan Korea
Malaysia
Mexico
Netherlands
New Zealand
Nigeria
Norway
Philippines
Poland
Russia
Singapore
Slovenia
South Africa
Spain
Sweden
Switzerland
Taiwan
Thailand
Turkey
United States
United Kingdom

Are There Any Additional Details?

There are some additional items of interest that will affect different people and their different needs for open platform publishing and for self hosted word press and blog sites. Open publishing platforms like Wordpress.org, Blogger, HubPages and Squidoo already have support for mobile display.

  • There are currently only one or two ads (one on top of another) in a single format that will display on a mobile site.
  • If you are operating a self hosted blog, it must be mobile display compatible to use Adsense For Mobile.
  • For your AdSense for mobile content reports, you can view statistics on impressions, clicks, clickthrough rate, eCPM, and total earnings
  • More details may be found HERE for more information from Googles own help for mobile ads

Are You Excited?

This has an exciting potential to within the next 12-24 months provide a larger diverse range of advertising revenue, due to the sheer amount of device uptake by people around the world. Rough estimates are suggesting that smart mobile phone uptake will be quicker and the devices used more often over the next 12 months than the uptake of laptops over the previous ten years. WOW!

That is suggesting to me that the revenue potential may soon outstrip the revenue from people clicking ads on their home computers and laptops out on the field.

Time will tell, and yes I myself am excited by the prospect.

I did notice the mobile content showing up in my Adsense account. Hey, I'm not doing too bad there. I guess quite a few hubbers do have these gadgets. I am sure a lot of people didn't realize that Adsense added the mobile thing so good thing you shared it!
