How To Host A Murder - Series Of Murder Mystery Board Games

The How To Host A Murder series of games, began in 1983 with The Watersdown Affair chapter. The game has the players take on and 'role-play' suspects in a murder mystery, and they all attempt to discover whom is the murderer. Its kind of like a role play version of Cluedo. Clues are slowly meted out and not even the host of the party knows who the culprit is.

A very popular way to play the game is to invite others, usually eight persons, to attend a 'dinner party'. People even sometimes dress-up in the theme of the mystery for the party. Each game may take from 3-6 hours to complete. Of the sixteen games, settings such as 1930's Chicago, Ancient Rome, or a tinsel town gala and others are available.

Below is a synopsis of most of the currently available sixteen titles.

January 1936 at an English country mansion. Sir Roger Watersdown, the wealthy owner of Watersdown Beverages, Ltd., has invited guests. yet very soon the guests turn into suspects as a murder has taken place within the mansion and amongst the guest lies....the Murderer!

1928, Chicago. Notorious gangster Harold "Hal" Coppone's  and his return is precluding a wave of crime to hit the city once again. Yet his sudden disappearance is strange to the police force and others in the ganster underworld.

To the small group invited to a gathering in a speakeasy near Coppone's headquarters, the crime lord's whereabouts become only part of the mystery when murder is discovered. There's no shortage of suspects, motives, speakeasy glamor or gorgeous flappers in this crime tale.

WWII, June, 1940 aboard a train leaving from Paris. The German troops emerge and soon will enter the city.

Although a secret letter and a group of guests on the train seek freedom, a mysterious murder has now put the guests in jeopardy as any of the suspects may be a murderer, lying in wait to do more harm.

June 1895. Arthur "Art" E. Faxe, the famed archaeologist, has invited eight guests to participate in an archaeological dig at a site in Mesopotamia. Straight away, rumors of a great find of the century start to circulate among gossip mongers.

You and other guests are invited personally to find out about this uncovered secret. But has murder made foul deigns to hide a secret, or uncover unspeakable truths?

Although the game is intended to be played at a dinner party, this doesn't always have to be the case, you can provide the following to mix it up and have different venues, different occasions and other ideas, it all depends on the amount of planning you decide.

• Have a lunch party, instead of dinner
• Hold an event outdoors (more for the appropriate edition of the game)
• For something really interesting, hire a local theater and put on an 'ad-lib' version for family and friends as theater guests.
• In your invitations, ask your guests to actually dress up in costume based on the theme.

You are a guest of the producer W. Anton Power. A new grande film is soon to be unveiled and a gala extravaganza has been put together for your pleasure  At the gala, guests find out that 1936 is curtains for a mutual friend. Who is the culprit? Is is the up and coming actor? is it the reclusive Producer? Or something more sinister , who knows? Noone until the end credits finally come up.

September 1931, the Duke of Airesborne has invited his eight possible heirs to announce just who among them will be the successor of his title. However, just before the official announcement is made, the Duke is killed in a strange hot air balloon incident.

Whom of the current successors is the most likely to gain from the Dukes death? Follow the clues, search the evidence, ask the hard questions, the results may just surprise you.

1881, the little town of Roadkill. In response to a warm invitation from His Honor, you have been invited by the local judge for a dinner to celebrate the capture of the infamous Malevolent  Seven for their mis-deeds and terrible crimes committed by these thieves on your small community.

Since you happen to be among the tuned-in, turned-on crowd, you've been invited on a cross-country road trip to Beefstock with one of the hippest rock singers of all time—the legendary Miss Hedda Leiss. While you're hanging out at her "love pad," an explosion rocks the house. The psychedelic bus you were going to take cross country has been turned to dust with someone on board, and someone is the most likely culprit! But what was the motive for murder, it's surely gonna stop a swinging party planned!

One that's a little different for science fiction fans. This one also differs in this time, your solving a theft rather than a murder. All the main characters are portrayed and one is accused of stealing a precious object, the legendary Orb Of Knowledge.
