How To Write Articles For People Not For Search Engines
Getting A Basic Grasp On The Basics!
SEO and the like for writing can be confusing for the new person with a new website, article or blog. Especially when you are just starting out and trying to get a grip on understanding all this search engine stuff. There is so much information to learn, it seems that along the way, so many people now offer a plug in or simplistic button on type system, but you got to pay a few dollars first. But they still may be complex or hard to understand to setup with no prior knowledge.
It’s time to get back to basics and gain a clear understanding of where to start.
The first item to know is this – You must provide clear, useful and valuable information for your users. Not just and only useful information via keywords for search engines or keyword stuffed articles spammed all over the web.
If you provide your readership with great information, useful guides and clear recommendations based and written from your research, experience or knowledge, your viewers will come. Also as importantly, if your readers keep coming back, they will more than likely tell others, via social networks and email and even via text links through cell phones.
The second item to know is you need to give your information time to be found. If you attempt various means to over expose your articles or blogs through black hat or mass spam methods, your online reputation will sink faster than the Titanic, not to mention the extra penalties received via the search engines. So whilst good in the short term, over the longer term your product will stink.
Give your information or articles time to grow organically through social media, blogs, forums and submissions.
Start With Some Easy To Follow Tips
So what are some easy to follow and straight forward tips one can use for articles, blogs and web pages? I suggest the following for getting back to the basics. Think of what you are wanting to tell your audience is meeting or exceeding their expectations. Your writing has to contain, useful, unique, helpful and accurate information. That even you would be happy to look for on the internet. So to use some discerning information helpful to reader;
1. Use brief yet descriptive titles.
2. Attempt to accurately summarize your web or article pages (where appropriate as in a Hubpages summary box).
3. Have your URL titles search friendly and reader friendly as well, for example www.kangaroojase.hubpages/top-10-music-for-generation-x.
4. Offer quality on your web pages and blogs or articles. Ask yourself some of these questions before you begin to write.
Am I offering something unique or new to my readers?
Am I solving a problem my readers may come across but don’t know how to fix?
Am I providing useful content that covers more than one article, that my readership will come back to read?
Am I providing original, relevant, organic and natural information that is not found anywhere else on the internet?
Am I offering a new viewpoint on an existing subject matter?
Am I offering an item of breaking news, topic of the moment or an evergreen subject?
Provide Natural & Easy To Follow Information. Making It People Friendly Not Search Engine Friendly
Write in a natural manner rather than search engine or keyword stuffing friendly. You want your readers to know who you are with your writing as much as what you write about.
Stay on topic about your subject, it’s rather difficult to keep on track reading if you are talking about the benefits of air conditioning if you flow into talking about heaters. Stay on target for an end result too, are you talking about the benefits of a product? Solving problems? Providing additional resources for your readers to explore? Talk about your subject then help your readers get their answers.
Be aware of emerging technologies as well, most people read articles and blogs on laptop, desktop computers , yet more people are also using more often, tablets and mobile devices.
100-300 words on average can be useful for blog posts.
200-1000 words on average can be useful for articles.
If you have many sub sections for an idea or subject split them over a series of blogs or articles, yet remember to have a capstone article or flow your articles smoothly from one to another so your readers can follow.
Why It Is Beneficial To Take A Quality Approach
It is simply a more effective way, in the medium to long term for your web sites, your articles and blog posts to have an ongoing, positive effect for your readers.
It is simply a case of once your 'presence' or brand starts to grow and widen to your expanding audience, there is more opportunity for you to grow this audience, more readers more benefits.
The landscape of searching for information is growing and becoming different for users, so the user experience is also growing. In an ever growing need for better and more qualified information, it makes sense to better and qualify our written and other provided information (blogs, video, articles, web sites, music, etc) for our readership.
